#258 – Filthy Gears & Wiley, Nazar, OOIOO, Ans M, Pö

Some rough, brilliant experimental sounds this week, one highlight being the brilliant rough Kuduro from Angola’s Nazar, who follows his brilliant Enclave EP with a first LP for Hyperdub. Also from Africa there’s Ghanaian experimentation from Phillipines label Syrphe, we also have punk from Atlanta, psych from Japan, Greek folk, and loads more good stuff.

Filthy Gears & Wiley – Step Up Two (self-release, UK)
Tiña – Dip (Speedy Wunderground, UK)
Pö – Laydo (Syrphe, Phillipines)
Bruxa Maria – The Void (Hominid Sounds, UK)
Vangas – Dog Walker (Chunklet Industries, USA)
Gary, Indiana – Berlin (self-release, USA)
Nazar – Diverted (Hyperdub, UK)
Hatzihristos Apostolos – The Sun Is Setting on the World (Death is Not the End Records, UK)
Ans M – Haptic Wetness on Your Waterproof Skin (TT, UK)
OOIOO – walk for “345” minutes, while saying “Ah Yeah!” with a “Mountain Book” in one hand, until a shower of light pours down (Thrill Jockey Records, USA)

Still no download button on this stuttering player. Not everyone streams from a wireless device. We like to download and place on an mp3 player independent of an internet connection.

Hi Emmett, as mentioned before, we’re having to change hosts due to spiralling costs (given we don’t make money, don’t have sponsorship and our Patrons just about cover all the tech costs we have). We’re working on putting download functionality in, but the new host doesn’t make it easy and we’re not tech-minded people. If you want to download an episode, you should be able to use a third-party tool to download the mp3. Or, as mentioned before, you could send an email to me and I can send you the mp3 directly.

        Hello Gareth,
I’ve started doing that with an app I found.
        Thanks for your reply!

Is it just me, or have 257 & 258 not been on Spotify?

    1. gareth says:

      Hi Wes,

We’re having a bit of an issue with Spotify at the moment. They are there, but only hidden: https://open.spotify.com/show/6Isv9HB5w9vPXeEVAlAphE?si=tXMJhR53SB22arHB63gRjw
