#38 – Keepers Special

The Independent Music Podcast is back after more than a year with an epic 22-track special dedicated to Anthony’s new night – Keepers.

The concept of the night is Anthony and guest DJs spinning vinyl records they wouldn’t usually play in a club, so expect the unusual, the amusing and the ‘not disco’. Gareth, amongst others, is guesting at the launch, this Tuesday, 4 December at Alibi in London.

So here is more than 90minutes of interesting music, amazingly eclectic, from the upbeat to the misery-inducing, plus the usual inane chatter than made people dislike the podcast last time around.

A burglary is to blame for the delay, and the fact Anthony’s in charge of the mix this time around. Nonetheless, a track from the new Amon Tobin record, and Record Store Day tunes from Gold Panda and Ty Segall make this another unique installment of the Independent Music Podcast. #35 – Burial, Soft Healer, Connan Mockasin, Matt Berry

This week’s podcast has perhaps the only online stream of the new Burial track that is the actual track rather than a radio rip, but away from the well known, we have the usual mix of obtuse, wonderful new independent releases. From an electronic track recorded before Elvis’ first number one to a side project of The Bug, to a nine minute psych-folk epic from Matt Berry, to Gareth’s favourite track of the year so far from Soft Healer, this week’s podcast is a superlative collection

#33 – Gruff Rhys, Conquering Animal Sound, Fostercare, Daedelus

This week’s podcast is possibly the first that includes a member of the Hitler Youth singing us a song. The Pope was a member too, so the failure of Nazism despite having God on their side possibly says plenty about the power of God, unless he was working it from the inside? Where were we? Ah yes, new releases this week from Trunk records, two Welsh pop greats in Euros Childs and Gruff Rhys, new label 100% Silk with The Deeep and much more. Tracks from Fostercare, Daedelus and a bizarre cover of People are Strange keep this week’s IMP ticking over superlatively…
