Elsewhere, Ant’s new favourite band Halls and a tribute to the late Trish Keenan of Broadcast.

#29 – Tobacco, Ritualzz, Euros Childs, Bardo Pond

Possibly too much 80s influence here, with lots of synths, and a song from Adam & Joe influenced by the 80s. Don’t worry though, there is plenty of goodness included, not least the increasingly popular sound of Gatekeeper, new brutality from Tobacco and Hyperdub’s Terror Danjah, new piano-led pop on Bella Union and a 13-minute epic from Majeure. It’s good to be back.

Everything’s a little ambient on this week’s Independent Music Podcast. #17 – Forest Swords, Ty Segall, Soft Healer, Gablé (Gareth’s no speaking mix)

After Anthony’s electronic led mix last week, Gareth provides one completely different. Including a number of tracks released this week – including Forest Swords and Machinefabriek – his is somewhat more eerie, but no less amazing.

It’s a bank holiday, but that doesn’t stop the Independent Music Podcast – inane chatter about chocolate records, Canadian slave labour camps and the acting career of Stan Collymore mixed with the latest and greatest new independent releases – and the usual two bands no longer with us.
