The morning after the night before! We’re super grateful to all our amazing listeners, and we got a huge amount more for podcast 200. Hopefully those of you who came in on #200 are ready for #201, because we’ve got a whole new batch of amazing new sounds for your ears.

First up there’s the fantastic percussion of João Pais Filipe, who’s a member of Porto’s ace HHY & The Macumbas (featured on #197). In keeping with percussive experiments we also have the Domadana Kadodi Performers from Uganda released (of course) on the excellent Nyege Nyege Tapes.

Elsewhere we’ve got super experimental sounds from Emerging Industries of Wuppertal via Singapore’s ShanGORIL La Records, we have something closer to home in the UK’s nasty, noisy Blood Claat Orange.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – when we get ourselves ready for the peerless Milhoes de Festa festival in Portugal. A completely off-the-wall, eclectic line-up of some of the finest artists from across the globe come together in a celebration of everything that is great about art, experimentation, and music. After a week in the wilderness, we’re back with great unknown artists, cult legends and some incredible collaborations – not least the one between Gnod & Surgeon. We kick off with a demo from jazz rockists Blegology and soon mix things up with dystopian electro, flute folk, Brazilian funk, and heavy hitting Soweto. We have collaborations between techno legend Surgeon and Manchester psych rockers Gnod, as well as Portugeses psych band Black Bombain and saxophonist Peter Brötzmann. Throw in some Half Man Half Biscuit and you’ve got yourself an immensely enjoyable hour of independent music.

Loads of pre-release music for your ears this week, from the opening sounds of Shit and Shine to the final notes of the wonderful Etta James cover by New York band The Frightnrs. We also introduce new music from London bands Luminous Bodies, Hempolics and Susso, as well as new ones from Israel’s Kutiman and Beirut’s Flamingods. There’s also a physical release for Croatian band Pridjevi’s blissed-out psych through Chicago label Trouble in Mind and a 2009 track from the brilliant Maserati.
