#186 – Jitwam, Low, Blawan, Lee Scratch Perry

A show that’s best described as ‘chill’ this week, as most of the music will have you woozy in the summer sun. Another description would be ‘symmetrical’ as it’s bookended by two dub tracks – the first from debutants Spiritual Rockers, and the final note from legend Lee Scratch Perry. In the middle we have a 14 minute opus from Low, electronic experimentation from Jako Maron on Uganda’s Nyege Nyege Tapes, thundering techno from Blawan, cocaine pop from Jitwam and a whole lot more.

Tracklisting
Spiritual Rockers – Fireland (Steppas Records, UK)
Crack Cloud – Swish Swash (self-release, Canada)
Jako Maron – Katangaz (Nyege Nyege Tapes, Uganda)
Low – Double Negative Triptych – “Quorum”, “Dancing and Blood” and “Fly” (Sub Pop, USA)
Jitwam – Desires (The Jazz Diaries, India)
Blawan – North (Ternesc, UK)
Astronauts, etc. – The Border (Company Records, USA)
Hilary Woods – Prodigal Dog (Sacred Bones Records, USA)
The Space Lady – Be Thankful For What You Got (Les Disques Bongo Joe, Switzerland)
Lee Scratch Perry – Game of the Throne (Byrd Out, UK)
