#186 – Jitwam, Low, Blawan, Lee Scratch Perry

A show that’s best described as ‘chill’ this week, as most of the music will have you woozy in the summer sun. Another description would be ‘symmetrical’ as it’s bookended by two dub tracks – the first from debutants Spiritual Rockers, and the final note from legend Lee Scratch Perry. In the middle we have a 14 minute opus from Low, electronic experimentation from Jako Maron on Uganda’s Nyege Nyege Tapes, thundering techno from Blawan, cocaine pop from Jitwam and a whole lot more.

As part of our best of 2016 series, we kick off December with Gareth and Anthony discussing and sharing their favourite vinyl purchases from the year just gone. It makes for a somewhat different ‘best of the year’ show, with records from pre-2016 and a large dose of 12″ singles that won’t get a look-in elsewhere where LPs reign. It’s the usual mix of genres, what else would you expect?
